Sarah Kobrinsky Poetry Workshop & Reading

Ekphrastic Poetry Writing Workshop

Join Sarah Kobrinsky, the 2013-2015 Poet Laureate of Emeryville, in this generative writing workshop. We will compose poems in response to the artwork in this year’s Celebration of the Arts show. Using various prompts and techniques, we will explore new ways of seeing with our words. Complete beginners to seasoned writers welcome. This workshop is limited to 20 people. Participants will be invited to submit their poems for an anthology, and to participate in a live reading on October 24th.

Sunday, October 10, 2020
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM PDT
Location: 5690 Bay Street

The event is free, but registration required. Register here. Masks required.

Ekphrastic Poetry Reading

You're invited to an evening of Poetry and Jazz featuring musicians Ryan Pate and Dillon Vado, and poets from the Ekphrastic Workshop. Ekphrastic poems focus on works of art by interpreting, inhabiting, confronting, and speaking to their subjects. The ekphrastic poems at this reading will focus on any of the 200+ works of art in the 35th Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition.

Sunday, October 24, 2020
7:00 PM – 8:30 PM PDT
Location: 5690 Bay Street
